The growth of small businesses in Australia has taken shape in the last 40 years. In the  80s, specifically between 83 and 84, there were estimated to be more than 550,000 small firms. The number had multiplied by 2 million. Small businesses just operated without the involvement of the government. However, in 1971,  the government developed advisory services funding and gave the small business owners supporting resources such as learning materials for small business management. However, even with this government intervention,  small businesses are still not recognized for their massive input on the Australian economy. More often than not, the large business will always carry the limelight, forgetting the small wonders that drive the economy and provide labor in Australia.
